① Not cheap, but a good-value luxury ingredient
This is definitely not cheap, but it is a luxury ingredient that can still be a good value.
A friend who does not love raw fish but does like smoked salmon put this in the cart.
The box says FIORDO. The name gives it a Nordic feeling, like fjord, but it is actually a Mexican brand from Cantabria Alimentos S.A. de C.V.
The salmon itself is Norwegian Atlantic salmon, and it is traditionally cold-smoked with oak and beech wood from sustainable sources.
So the salmon comes from Norway, while the production is in Mexico. It is a well-known brand sold in Mexican supermarkets such as Walmart and Chedraui.
② Ingredients and nutrition label
Let’s start with the ingredients and nutrition label.
Besides salmon, the label mentions smoking with oak and beech wood. That detail makes the process feel more intentional.

③ Five 100 g packs
When I opened it, I found five 100 g packs. This seems very convenient.
Before this review, I tried a few smoked salmon products from other brands, and many came as one large pack.
For two people, that can be too much to finish quickly, so I had to rewrap the rest and refrigerate it. Then I kept worrying about how long it would stay good.
With individual packs, this should be easier to manage.

④ Opening each pack is a little tricky
The downside is that the pack does not have an obvious tear notch.
I cut the three red-marked spots in the photo with scissors, then lifted the top plastic layer to take the salmon out.

At first, I tried to lift the salmon carefully with a fork.
But the slices were stuck together tightly and did not separate easily.
There were about five slices arranged inside, but I could not remove them neatly. In the end, I had to handle them directly by hand as shown in the photo ~_~; This part was difficult.

⑤ This time, I made a sandwich
After finally getting it out, I used it in a sandwich.
Canapés or bagel sandwiches are probably more common, but I had buns left, so I paired it with guacamole.

*I tried it*
It does not smell fishy, it has no strange aftertaste, and it is easy to eat.
The salt level is pleasant, and I enjoyed it. I used it in a sandwich this time, and later in a salad too.
I like salmon, so I would buy it again, though the price is the hard part... 😅
I wondered how much it costs at other supermarkets, so I checked.
The same product seems to sell elsewhere for more than 200 MXN per 100 g. (@_@)‼️
Since this Costco pack is 500 g, the value starts to make sense.
When you want a small luxury, I would recommend buying it at Costco instead of a regular supermarket.
