A calorie bomb (^^;;) but I still want it!
Today’s review is another long-running Costco bakery classic: Kirkland Signature Muffins.

① From a 12-pack to “6 + 6” (mix-and-match flavors)

Costco has tons of breads, cakes, and bakery items, but these muffins are one of the long-time best sellers.
They used to be sold as a single 12-piece pack (sometimes one flavor, sometimes a mixed/random assortment).

Now they come as two boxes of 6, and you can mix flavors. This is a great change because you can pick exactly what you want.

② The flavors I saw (and what I picked)

This time I saw three flavors: Chocolate, Blueberry, and Chocolate Chip.
I chose Chocolate and Blueberry. Let’s open them up.

③ Big and heavy (you can feel it when you lift the box)

Boom—they look delicious.
Each muffin is large and feels very dense. When you hold the box, you really notice the weight. (^^;;

④ I sliced them (dense, moist crumb)

And yes… I cut them open.

No wonder they are heavy: the crumb is dense and moist.
The chocolate muffin has lots of chocolate chips.
The blueberry one tastes good, but I personally wish it had a bit more fruit.

*Calories (the “calorie bomb” part)*

Chocolate
・Per box: 3496.70 kcal
・Per 100 g: 353.20 kcal
The label says each box is 990 g (not sure how exact that is 😅).
If we estimate 165 g per muffin, that’s about 582.7 kcal per muffin.

Blueberry
・Per box: 3604.60 kcal
・Per 100 g: 364.10 kcal
Same listed total weight: 990 g per box.
With the same estimate (165 g per muffin), that’s about 600.7 kcal per muffin—actually a bit higher than the chocolate one!

*Taste test*

As you would expect from the look: sweet, and you get a strong buttery aroma.
The chocolate muffin really does have many chips inside.
The blueberry muffin is tasty, but again, I would love a bit more fruit.

You can eat a whole muffin (if you dare) or split it in half. I also recommend warming it:
a few seconds in the microwave, or a quick re-bake in the oven to make it feel fresher.

*Extra topping idea (adds even more calories 😅)*

I tried it with whipped cream on top. If you get bored of eating it plain, this is a fun upgrade.

*Storage tip: freeze if you can’t finish them*

If you can’t finish them before the best-by date, you can store them in a Ziploc-style bag and freeze.
Cutting them in half before freezing can make thawing easier.

To eat later: thaw at room temperature, microwave, or re-bake lightly—whatever you prefer.

And since you get a lot, it’s also easy to share with friends. If you see them at Costco, give them a try.
